The history of Parque da Jaqueira began in the 18th century, when the land, which belonged to Henrique Martins, a wealthy merchant living in the city, was a large farm. At the time, the owner ordered the construction of a small chapel, which remains there to this day and is one of the most remarkable examples of Portuguese Baroque architecture. After hundreds of years, the land was transformed into a soccer field and later, because of the famous chapel, renowned landscaper Burle Marx donated a project for the area surrounding the site. In the 1970s, the place was abandoned and began hosting a local fair that looked more like an amusement park, attracting visitors from all over the city. Inspired by this idea, 10 years later the city's mayor decided to transform the park into what we see today.

Parque da Jaqueira is a very pleasant and safe place in the city of Recife.
